After a break in the Metro series races, the fleet was back racing out of Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club for heat 8.
A light southerly breeze and a pesky lateral mark just near the line threw in some extra starting challenges, however the usual contenders quickly stormed to the front, with Itinerant first around the top mark.
Unfortunately the wind didn’t hang around, and the race turned into a floater as the fleet rounded Bond. Small puffs here and there mixed up the order greatly, testing everyone’s patience. With other fleets on the river retiring and the clock ticking, it seemed we wouldn’t get a finish.
Thankfully our persistence was rewarded as an easterly came in, allowing the fleet to raise kites and finish the shortened course at Brickies.
